| Personal History | Reina Akikawa was born aboard the ISS Hermes on April 5, 2346. The Hermes was an aging Excelsior class starship in service with the Terran First Order; a military junta formed from a remnant of the old Imperial Starfleet that fled for parts unknown as the old Empire fell. (See Terran First Order History below) From a young age, Reina was trained to fight. Being taught hand-to-hand melee combat, marksmanship, and battle simulations when she was old enough to hold a phaser. The Terran First Order knew that in order to restore a purer Terran Empire to the Alpha Quadrant, they would need to possess the finest soldiers in the quadrant, constantly vigilant against any signs of weakness or disobedience. As such, Reina was subject to extreme behavioral and personality conditioning, being allowed to only watch Terran First Order-approved content. Such content deemed 'safe' for consumption was pre-first contact Anime and Manga, from a time when Terrankind believed they were alone in the universe. Reina often found comfort in this pre-first contact media, and spent the precious free time allotted to her reading manga and watching anime on a PADD, and would often leave anime playing when she slept rather than the Terran First Order propaganda she was supposed to be listening to. Like it's need for fine soldiers, the Terran First Order also knew that its aging fleet of hand-me-down vessels from the Terran Empire would have to be replaced at some point, and so the order began sending recruits into the alternate reality first discovered by the NX-01 ISS Enterprise in the 22nd century to steal starship plans to be used by the order to build newer, more advanced starships to combat the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. Reina was one such recruit, and she was sent into the alternate reality to "replace" her counterpart, identified as serving as an engineer aboard the USS Iowa, a Galaxy Class Starship. Reina made several successful trips to the alternate reality, stealing the plans for several Federation starships, which began construction at First Order-controlled shipyards. When the planned First Order assault on Earth was about to begin, however, unusual intelligence reports poured in concerning an Alliance defeat in the Sol System. A Terran Rebellion that they had previously not accounted for had successfully overthrown the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance and liberated Earth. Clearly, the First Order needed to delay its next move and get eyes inside this newly reformed Terran Empire and determine if they were an ally or a threat. Reina volunteered to be one of these agents, and so, she and other volunteers were dressed in slave clothes and placed inside decrepit escape pods with minimal life support and a weak distress beacon to make her cover story seem more believable before being set adrift for the Terran Empire to find. Reina's pod was discovered by the ISS Shuto, an old Constitution class starship "requisitioned" by the rebellion and later inducted into the fleet of the newly-reformed Empire. After being rescued, Reina and the other "freed slaves" were granted provisional ranks within the Imperial Starfleet and were issued new uniforms. After being disgusted at finding out that the New Empire hadn't corrected the problem of female uniforms from the Old, Reina feigned an interest in one of the Shuto's Intelligence Officers, eventually sleeping with him to land a permanent position aboard the Shuto as an Encryption Specialist - not a glamorous first position, but a role with which Reina served dutifully for three years. By 2375, the junior intelligence officer with which Reina had slept had risen to become Chief Intelligence Officer after convicting the old Chief of dereliction of duty. He remembered her, and offered her the position as his assistant, to which Reina accepted and reignited their relationship to prove to him she was serious. They served together as Chief and Assistant Chief for the next five years, during which time, Reina learned much of the Empire's inner workings, and relayed her findings to the Terran First Order at regular intervals. By 2380, the First Order determined that it was only a matter of time before Memory Alpha was reclaimed, and the truth behind the fate of the Terran First Order's founding fleet would come to light, and advised their agents in the Empire to prepare for the possible formation of the "Terran Final Order." Shortly after receiving the memo from the Order, Reina was reassigned to the Hestia class battleship ISS Anubis. Word of her skill as an Intelligence operative had spread beyond the Shuto's corridors, and Captain Louise Valliere believed that Reina would make quite the asset to the battleship. Reina wasn't aboard the Anubis long before she had seen all that she needed to see, however. It was evident that the new Terran Empire was incompatible with a potential First Order cooperation. And so, Reina secretly signaled for an extraction. At the Anubis' next major engagement, Reina snuck into one of the ship's escape pods and jettisoned it. She was transported aboard a waiting cloaked First Order ship, which fired upon the pod before jumping to warp. For all intents and purposes to the new Terran Empire, it appeared as if Reina had been killed. |
